The Second Web 2.0

I just complete the current Web 2.0 study and I was quite enjoy the study for the Box.net  and other website knowledge.

I have learned three sessions of Web2.0, I think all three are quite good, but the latest one is the best. We can find more useful tools on the web as our on-line storage and also got a lot of resources for working and life.

Hope in the future under the super city library, we will have more useful and interesting training like this.

EnCompassCulture

I visited the EnCompassCulture and quite like it. As English is my second language, I always feel confused and frustrated when I want to find a good book in English to read. I preferred to get a book which is recommended by the readers and know what is like before I began reading. The EnCompassCulture Website is very helpful and useful for the readers like me. I can find out which new book is very interesting and recommended by other readers and also can get some ideas from the reviews from other readers to know the books style and content to check if it is the book that I like to read. The library staff could advise the customers when they asked the advise on the books, no matter for what ages as EnCompassCulture has the different sections for the readers in different ages. I will promote EnCompassCulture to some customers who is not sure about which books they should borrow.

Slideshare-Resources centre

Today I visit the webiste of slide share, which is very easy to search out the information your need and also can find all sorts of resouces on the website. For example, I use library to search and it's very easy to get the 2.0 presentation, it also support other languages in slides and if I use Chinese to search the library-related presentation, I also can find some. I think the customers will find it simple and I may advise the customer to use it if they create a very good presentation because it is also free for the public. I will use this site again to share my presentation with my friends and others as I often receive soem interesting powerpoint presentation which I'd like to share with others. It's a good place to go.
 
I will promote this site to customer if they need some resouces for their presentation, but I will not promote it to every customers as I think some of them don't like to read the powerpoint documents on line. Furthermore, the speed of the internet is quite critical for the customers, I found it took a while to get into one slides and it went through very slowly. You need to be very patient to wait for the response from the website :(

Tastespotting-Delicious collections

The receipt I chose is a Strawberry & Cream Cupcake. Looked very yummy and delicious that I felt starving again. I like cup cake very much and sometimes make it at home..This one looks fresh and I just saw the strawberry is in the market today, I may try make for my family..sweet weekend. The website is quite easy to use and I have saved it into my favorite so that I can check the receipt everyday. This week task is very interesting and related to our life, may not related to libaries, but I may introduce this to the customer who are interested in cooking..

Nice website but I think I have to go, otherwise I will gain the weight as there are too many delicious stuff...

Make RSS feed simple

The Feed my box is very easy to use and make my RSS feed simple.I also introduced it to one of my customers and she also likes it very much. Feed My box send me email everyday to advised some new feeds that I am interested in. We can use it in our workrooms as we always need some updates on the internet about the library in the world but we may not use it in the Learn.nets as some customers may not like receive the email everyday for the RSS. I will use this site everyday to update my knowledge and will advised some customers if they are willing to use RSS feed in their life or working. But as the RSS feed over 5 will charge the money, I will advised the customers to keep the best five and do not exceed it.

PicApp-Picture from the world

 
As I want to know the New Zealand National Library, I just typed in the word "New Zealand Library", the picture and the news for library has been located and it's quite easy to use in my blog. It's good place to find out all the real and authentic pictures about the world news. If your blog wants to introduce some current view of some news, you only need to type in the key words and you will get the things you need.The customers may also feel easy to use it because you don't need to set up the complex searching criteiria and all the pictures are related to your topic.
 
The Manukau libary website may publish some picture and updated news and activities of Manukau through PicApp and when someone visit our blogs, they will gets updates at once.I will often use the website for my blog if I found some hot news for my friends.I might promote it to the customer and they could get the news and picture they wanted very fast.

The web 2.0 round 2 begins....Yeah...
 
I create an account on box.net and save some pictures uploaded from my working station...So Cool! I don't need to save my documents in the USB stick or send it to my other mailbox. It's very convenient for me as I often lost my USB stick and hate resend the documents to and from my various email box for just saving it.
 
I also can use it for work purpose to share my opinion or files with my colleagues. It's easy to use and everyone can add their comments on that. But if my file is too open to others, maybe I will lost my original text at the end. The customer on the learn.net will found it very useful that they can save their work on line and do not and also can use applications to send to their mobile or printer.I will promote this to my customers as it's so convinient and save time. Also it's important that it is free....

Summary for Web 2.0

I have completed my Web 2.0, which is very interesting and I learned a lot of new knowledge about Internet and updated my knowledge for facebook, twitter...

I hope we can have another Web training in the near future, may focus more on the library tools. My favorite part of the web 2.0 is the week 4, which is related to "Good Reader" Website because I am a book lover.

Facebook experience

I've signed for facebook for a long time, but never use it. When I began posting my stuff and searching my friends on face book last week, I found it is so interesting that I even found a friend that we didn't communicate with each other for more than 3 years. I could see her current pictures and her new baby, it's so excited that I can't help posting a comment for her. The face book make the world smaller and we can see each other even we have the different time zone.

I think the facebook can used as a review and comment centre for the reader and the staff. It's a place that you share your opinion on the books or you could recommend you favorite book for everyone on the facebook.  It's easy to use but just different tabs looks a little cofusing if you don't get into it. I will keep posting my opinion and pictures on the facebook. But I haven't heard any customers asking for our facebook. We may need to promote it to the customer when they do the register. I think they will like it if they are the book and author fans.

Free Mp3?

I like to search the pop songs on the internet, and today I tried Amazon MP3 Store to download a song. But I found it is not easy to use the website because you need to sumbit a lot of personal details on that. And at last when I entered the New Zealand Address and the Amazon advised the Mp3 only can be downloaded in America...so disappointed. But on the other hand, the customers on their website could be supervised by Amazon, so it is good for keep the copyright. I normally use a Music Searching Tool Called Kuwo Music Box. It can search all the website which has the songs you want and you just need to download from the tool. I love it because it is fast and it also show if the download is legal or illegal. And when playing the songs, the lyrics are also shown on the screen. Only because it is a software in Chinese, it may not easy for other language speaker to use it.The link is http://www.kuwo.cn/

I post my first review on the Goodread for Twilight as above. The website is very useful for the readers to know the best and most popular books in English world. We can recommend the customers to have a look and find out what kind of book is their favourite. I will promote Good reads to my customer but it's only in English, some of other language books cannot be found on this website.So the customers in other language may be not interested on that.

Twitter for library

The Twitter is quite new to me even I have a lot of friends around are using it. I have sent my first tweet this week to follow the Manukau Library stream. It's quite easy to use and people will find it simple when signing in. It's like the BBS but you can see the information you want in your group and read their updates everyday. It's very good to use in our Learn. nets and workrooms. I often check the updates there to know what's happening in the library. I will often use this sites to communicate with my friends and librarians. The library could promote the new activities, the new coming book ets. I will use it to recommend some books and website I like. I will always promote this servce to customers, especialll the regular customers so that they can find things around library.

It's cool and very interesting message delivery place.

Zamzar

Acturally it is quite easy and simple to follow their instruction and convert the file into differnt format. The customers may find it quite useful if they want to create a word documents that they don't want other people to do the change on that. It is better if we have the link on the desktop that leads customer to get on the website. I will often use this site as it is expensive to install Adobt on my computer but Zamzar is free . I will promote this site to my customers because it's easy and simple to convert the document. The most important is that it is free for everyone on the Net.

New Web 2.0

The new Web 2.0 begins, I feel very excited on that. Actually I haven't update my blog since I completed my last Web 2.0 in 2009. It seems there are more useful tips in the 6 exercises of the learning.

I expect I can develop more skills on the blog creation, link it to my best friends. Just not confident in put videos in my blog and too busy to update my blog. I think the public library could use a blog to input more newly information about books and magazine and has some reviews on that. The customers expect to see our blog as an information bar and library living area to share knowledge and news.

This is my first blog for it and will learn the stuff now.
